RE Arizona, Which is the bigger issue, “profiling” somebody, or THOUSANDS of crimes committed by illegals?

In 2007, illegal immigrants accounted for:

10% of sex crimes convictions
11% of murders convictions
13% of stolen cars convictions
13% of aggravated assaults convictions
17% of those sentenced for violent crimes
19% of those sentenced for property crimes
20% of those sentenced for felony DUI
21% of crimes committed with weapons
34% of those sentenced for the manufacture, sale or transport of drugs
36% of those sentenced for kidnapping
44% of forgeries
50% of those sentenced for crimes related to "chop shops"
85% of false ID convictions
96% of smuggling convictions

  1. People were saying the same things about the Irish a hundred years ago . Poverty breeds crime .

  2. Because profiling was abused, its become a dirty word, but in some cases profiling is appropriate. Unfortuneately, political correctness prevents us from using all of our resources.

EDIT: Ryoshi – I agree with your quote from Benjamin Franklin, but illegals should not have the same rights as citizens and legal immigrants. Even citizens of this country lose some of their rights when they violate the law, and police are allowed to question suspects without it being considered a violation of rights.

  3. I think that those who would give up freedom in the interest of security deserve neither.

  4. Most Americans will tolerate the inconvenience of showing ID if it means they are safer in their homes. Liberals, however, are not that sensitive to crime prevention. Perhaps because so many liberals are criminals themselves.

  5. Illegal immigrants can do no wrong in the eyes of liberals.

Misguided Fears of Crime Fuel Arizona Immigration Law

“The crime rate in Arizona in 2008 was the lowest it has been in four decades. In the past decade, as the number of illegal immigrants in the state grew rapidly, the violent crime rate dropped by 23 percent, the property crime rate by 28 percent. (You can check out the DoJ figures here.)”

  7. Also in 2007 in Maricopa County, US citizens were responsible for the following crimes, and NOT illegal immigrants:

    90% of sex crime convictions
    89% of murder convictions
    87% of stolen cars convictions
    87% of aggravated assault convictions
    83% of violent crime sentences
    81% of property crime sentences
80% of those sentenced for felony DUI (there are non-felony DUIs?)
79% of crimes committed with weapons
66% of those sentenced for the manufacture, sale, or transport of drugs
64% of those sentenced for kidnapping
    56% of forgeries
50% of “chop shop” related crimes
    15% of false ID convictions
    4% of smuggling convictions

By your logic, we should begin profiling people who look like they are from this country.

  8. Don’t forget that illegal immigrants also account for:

100% of illegal entries into the United States.

It should not be necessary to point out the obvious but it seems to get lost on most people.

  9. Well according to the activists and liberals not to mention members of congress it profiling. Crime is only incidental and they aren’t concerned with that. All they have to do is throw money at the crime problem and it goes away. Good luck to you

  10. You realize that you’re putting your trust in an organization that puts 12 year old children on no-flight lists.

Try this thought on for size. When they outlawed alcohol, It made a lot of criminal rich. How can you guarantee that you won’t create a same situation?

  11. What part of “illegal” do you people not understand here.

Do you think the Constitution or Civil Right apply to those here illegally?

    Absolutely not.

The Constitution and Civil Rights only apply to people with Citizenships or are citizens.

Get your heads out of the toilet liberals.

  12. If only it were as simple as “Checking ID”, that would be a very small inconvenience for all of us. Checking ID is not going to verify anything. Most recently the have detained US Citizens (Natural Born) for only having their state issued DL. After spouses dug up their birth certificate and brought down to the station, were they released.

One of them was at a truck driver check point: I wonder what “Reasonable Doubt” applied here?
What does “illegal” look like? Brown/Tan skin color? Or is it light skinned canadians? Very fine line we are walking. I know they announced education for police officers would be provided but I’m curious as to whose funds will be covering this “Training”. We do need some sort of regulation but how about we put some common sense into this for a change? I hope my response does not get red flagged with “Reasonable Doubt”. (How can you tell?) i’m a US Citizen but living in AZ our nice sunny weather makes the majority of the residents nice and tan looking….hmm?
