I think there should be a sliding scale for traffic violation fines…because?

OK so I got cut off today so bad and so close that I had to actually honk for my own safety. The guy was driving a Benz. Which is fine, I have no problem with affluent people (and I am otherwise majorly against the 'class warfare') I myself am an aspiring entrepreneur.

But then it dawned on me, if this guy actually got caught and got fined for threatening my life like that, he wouldn't have even FELT it in his pocketbook. It would be almost like no punishment at all. Where's the incentive to obey the rules of the road.

Now if you flip it around and it were me who was fined I WOULD HAVE TO arrange my entire budget ff or the next month or 2 around it! SO their is a much bigger incentive for the bottom 50% to drive properly. In fact I've NEVER been pulled over. I'm 23 and drive a cruiser.

But If I ever do get pulled over and fined, I am going to remember that guy and think "Not fair"

If money is power and "With great power comes great responsibility" can't we expect our more affluent drives to comply with the rules of the road equally and feel the discipline equally should they commit violations.

Some forms of childcare is done on a sliding income scale, should some forms of punitive payments be the same?

I'm a conservative by the way but sometimes you get a little jostled and arrive at epiphanies when your bodily integrity is threatened.

And yes I quoted Spidey. Sorry.
you would know the same way that other companie get to know your income.
so for the sake ofpaperwork, litigation, and time...no?

Is it a good concet besides that?

How do I know if I received any traffic violation points?

So I was pulled over by cop for failing to change lane properly. I received a $90 ticket, but I do not remember the cop telling me whether or not I received any points. I could not find any section on the ticket where indicate the number of points for this particular violation. I really do not want to go to the court if I did not receive any points. Is there any possible way for me to know whether I received any points? Oh by the way I live in Maryland. Thank you.

Another illegal alien, suspected of being intoxicated, has been charged with vehicular homicide in the death of an 18-year-old Tennessee man.

Luis Oscar Garcia, 24, a Mexican who had been living in the U.S. without a green card for three years, was ordered held without bail this week on the vehicular homicide charge as well as driving under the influence.

The victim in the crash was James F. Rogers Jr. of North Jackson, Tenn.

A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 7, and it is likely Garcia, who speaks little English, will use a court-appointed attorney for his defense.

According to the Jackson Sun, Garcia's 1995 Chevy S-10 pickup ran a red light while traveling north on the U.S. 45 Bypass at Oil Well Road about 2 a.m. Saturday. He slammed into the '95 Honda Civic that Rogers was driving westbound on Oil Well.

Police said Garcia had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and that his pants were soaked with a liquid that indicated the presence of alcohol. There also were two beer bottles, one partially filled, in the truck at the time of the accident, police said.

In addition to the vehicular homicide and DUI charges, Garcia faces counts of driving without a license, registration or proof of insurance. When police did a check on his license plate, it did not come back under his name, the report said.

As WND reported, illegal aliens – mostly driving unregistered and uninsured and without valid licenses – are causing mayhem on America's highways.

While no one – in or out of government – tracks traffic accidents caused by illegal aliens, the statistical and anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year's 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens.

A report by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Study found 20 percent of fatal accidents involve at least one driver who lacks a valid license. In California, another study showed that those who have never held a valid license are about five times more likely to be involved in a fatal road accident than licensed drivers.

Statistically, that makes them an even greater danger on the road than drivers whose licenses have been suspended or revoked – and nearly as dangerous as drunk drivers.

In addition, the states with the most illegal aliens also have the most unlicensed drivers. Those states are also in the lead for the most hit-and-run accidents, according to reports issued by the Fatality Analysis Reporting System and the Pew Hispanic Center. California ranks at the top with 24.1 percent of the known 11.1 million illegal aliens.
to "sf ca" YOU are MISSING the whole point (along with the REST of the PRO crowd)!!!! Crimes commited by ILLEGALS are PREVENTABLE crimes!!! It's like saing, "If that man hadn't left his gun lying about, his child wouldn't have SHOT him"!!!! GET IT??? And, just WHAT is your little survey trying to prove??? That AMERICANS outnumber ILLEGALS??? We ALREADY know that!!! So, of couse there are going to be MORE crimes committed by citizens!!!!!

Can you voluntarily serve jail time instead of paying traffic fines?

I am screwed. I live in Texas. I have about $700 in traffic fines that I haven't paid because I am poor. I also have at least 1 warrant for failure to appear. My license expired in 2005, and I can't renew it until I have paid the tickets. I can't pay the tickets without a job, and I can't get a job without a valid ID. Can I turn myself in, and serve time in jail instead of paying the fines??
I thought about getting an ID card, but I'm afraid of getting arrested at the DMV with my 3 children in tow. I will serve the time, but I don't want my kids to see me getting arrested, and I don't have anyone to watch them.
This is not a bogus question - it's my life. I have relatives that live an hour or so away, and I can arrange for them to watch my kids for a few days. My husband also has vacation time that he could use to watch the kids while I am away.

Where can I find the CHP Collision Investigation Manual online?

I'd like to review it to determine if a Traffic Collison Report followed the procedures set forth by the CHP. It was completed following an investigation by a SD police officer. I'd like to review the manual online if possible but if I have to go to the police unit do they have to show me the manual and local policies as per Freedom of Information Act?
Thanks.
