do you have a peugeot 206?
Our peugeot has the same problems as every one else, we have read tons of info on the net and the peugeot cars are prone to this deadly fault, driving on a motorway at 70mph and then your power steering goes, no power and negotiating 3 lanes of traffic! this fault can happen at any time and any place, No matter how many times you tell your dealer they do not listen, it is no good taking 1000s of reports off the internet they dont care. The fault is not recorded on the ECU so when put on the diagnostics machine it is not found and there is £50 wasted. if it happens again ive heard they do a full change of likley parts for £800.
Also another problem that occurs is your engine can remain on even when the key is removed from the ignition. NEVER BUY FRENCH CARS!!! (peugeot/Renault) These are the worst for electircal faults.
The cars are manufactured with the fault, it cant be fixed. GET RID OF THE CAR A.S.A.P before you die! It is a death trap.
If it has not happened yet it will soon

mate first of all I drive french car since 20 years and no problem at all as just normal maintenance. If dealer cant find the fault they probably wont find the fault so change the dealer or call Peugeot direct. The power steering problem sounds like a power steering pump who loses pressure in system and the other problem with ignition sounds like a fault from the COM2000 unit behind the steering wheel.
The fault can be fixed with a good dealer ship but not with backyard mechanics. cheers

Sorry i have never heard of this and a friend of mine has had Peugeots for as long as i have been born(over 20 years ahem). And she has had every model under the sun and as a driving instructor she has pushed them and never had a problem at all!!!!!
In fact everyone i have known with a Clio or Peugeot has never has and PAS problems or electrical faults, indeed my 206 is 3 years old and has been a lovely drive with only the usual windscreen wiper change and tyre replacement problems so nothing abnormal there.
It has been pushed to the limit on the M6 and M1 in the hottest of weather and coldest and has never let me down.
I will continue to buy Peugeot infact we are going for 307 next.
Sorry i can’t offer advice but i thought i would let you know how i have found french cars.

I have driven a 206 for 3 years. A gearbox rear shift sensor was the only fault on those 3 years. Peugeot electrical system are VERY sensitive to “non authorized modifications”. You should take a lot of care about who put their hands on your car. Power steering… not a great mystery. Probably you should change your mechanic and keep your car.
