traffic violation?
i was caught for failing to stop at a stop sign limit line, and i didnt have my updated insurance information with me at the time. they sent me the amount i have to pay and it came up to be a whopping 879 dollars. since im only 19 and of course dont have that amount of money, what can i do? i was wondering if i can submit proof of insurance and get that dismmissed and then fight the limit line violation seperately, or do i have to fight them both at the same time, which i dont have the money to pay for for bail. whats the best way of handling this situation? violation codes are VC 22450(a) and VC 16028 (a).
this happened in california around the los angeles area

Bring the correction, have that dismissed.
Go to driving school on the other.

“A person cited for violation of this section (16028) can have the violation dismissed by either:
Personally appearing before the clerk of the court designated on the citation, and:
presenting proof of financial responsibility showing that the driver was in compliance with this law at the time ticket was issued
paying a $10 processing fee
Mailing this proof and the $10 payment to the court. ”
That’s from Kern County but should still be applicable.

Unless you did something else that landed you in jail, you are not paying bail. They are called fines. As you’ve been told, take your proof of insurance and show it to the judge, that will most likely be dismissed. Then, you can choose to fight the other charge, or just plea bargain to traffic school, pay a lesser fine, whatever.

I’m a military police officer and i have written many many many many tickets before but none that counted for 879 dollars. the only thing that i can think of why the fine is so high is that the cop wrote u a ticket for not having insurance rather then not having out dated information. i would call the 800 number on the ticket and find out what exactly they are charging you for. you should be able to show that you do have insurance on your vehicle and you wont be charged that much.
when i was stationed in Maryland a stop sign violation was 75 dollars and not having updated insurance was 25 i think. your fines should not be 879 dollars unless you have something else on ur record.
but yea, just call the number on the ticket and find out what the hell is going on.

Go in front of the judge on the day you’re supposed to appear. Bring proof of insurance and he’ll probably dismiss it and maybe reduce the other fine. Or maybe you have the option of going to driving school.

Contact the court attorney and see he will agree to dismiss the insurance issue and maybe plea down the other charge. Courts love plea bargains.
