Is it possible to get whiplash from a fender bender going less than 5 mph?

I take full responsibility. The gold car and I were in the median waiting for oncoming traffic to pass. When I saw a break in the traffic I hit the gas to go because I thought the gold car had gone… but I realized it hadn’t when I bumped the back of the gold car. My car has absolutely no damage…not even a scuff. I saw no damage on the other car… but I still gave her my insurance information and left. I did not get hers because I know it was my fault and because I had no damage.

NOW… I just received a call from my insurance co. saying she is complaining of whiplash and that she is sore. So would it be possible for her to have whiplash?

  1. Yes! Any sudden jolt can cause whiplash!

  2. Anything is possible… but highly unlikely.

  3. are you doing it to yourself?

  4. It depends on if the lawyer can sue for it or not. People will exaggerate anything to swindle money out of someone. Get yourself a good lawyer.

  5. it is possable to get whiplash any time your head moves faster than your body or your body faster than your head… so in a case where she wasnt expecting a hit it is possable for that to happen…. but unlikely serious… let it up to your insurance company, they are onto the tricks…. that is why you have insurance… so you dont have to worry…… so dont worry!:)

  6. No. You can’t get whiplash from that, but you did hit a real a-hole, so make sure you talk with your insurance company and you may have to retain an attorney. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. There’s no shortage of people with low morals who are out for a quick buck, just don’t be the one that lets her get it.

  7. yes, especially if you accelerated into her.

  8. Whiplash is the common name for neck sprains, such as those caused by hyper extension/flexion injury to the cervical, thoracic or lumbar spines. The injury is referred to as “whiplash” due to the neck or back being thrown forwards and/or backwards at a rapid speed. This may cause the fibres of the neck muscles to tear, resulting in pain and often a decreased range of movement.

Whiplash is commonly associated with motor vehicle accidents, usually when the vehicle has been hit in the rear, [1] however the injury can be sustained in many other ways, including falls from bicycles or horses.

I don’t believe 5 miles per hour can cause Whiplash, but then again, I’m skeptical of people’s claims and I’m certainly not a medical professional. Beware! and good luck to you.

  9. Maybe she has a really big, heavy head? More than likely, she’s looking for a payday at your expense.

  10. It’s not possible. The question is though, does this person have some pre-existing condition making them more prone to injury?

  11. Yes you can get whiplash I got hit from behind did not see her i was fine untell the next day and i could not move my head it was a burning pain and it was real. I am not a gold digger I just want the pain to go away
