Traffic on Thanksgiving weekend Between LA and Las Vegas?

I live in Los Angeles and am going to Las Vegas on Thanksgiving day. And I will come back to LA on Sunday. Probably not a good idea in terms of a traffic, but I have no other choice.
Can someone suggest the best time to leave LA on Thursday and the best time to leave Las Vegas on Sunday to beat the traffic? Is there any good website for such traffic prediction?
Thanks!

What is the difference between the small traffic cameras, and red light cameras?

Hey Guys,

What do the small little black cameras do that are usually on top of the poles that traffic lights hang from? I always thought those were for taking pictures of "rule-breakers", but it looks like those are different. You can see the little cameras I am talking about on the middle of the horizontal pole in the background. What are they for?

So those are different from red-light cameras (in the foreground)?
Woops! Forgot to link to the picture:

That is the one I was referring to in the text above.
Oh, these can usually be found on EVERY single traffic light pole. What are they for?

What are some good research/statistic sites?

I'm interested in ALL kinds of research. How many traffic deaths per year, by age, by accident type. Illnesses and effects of smoking. How insurance companies rate applicants. Drop-out/enrollment rate for college. Kind of like "Freakonomics" research, stuff like that. The broader range per site, the better.

Where to go to find recent accident reports, perhaps traffic reports?

My mom has been gone for awhile, and a lady from the thing she was going to just called my house and said that she wasn't there, and I'm worried she got in an accident. She doesn't have a cell phone, so I was thinking of looking for an online accident report, or something like that, but I've never heard of such a thing. What kind of search could I do online?

Traffic Lights?

I have a few questions about traffic lights.

1) What's the difference between a Solid Red Light and a Flashing Red Light?

2) Can you go straight through a Flashing Red Light?

3) What does it mean when there is a:

Red Light with Green Arrow pointing left
Yellow Light with Green Arrow pointing left
Red Light with Yellow Arrow Pointing left
Yellow Light with Yellow Arrow Pointing left

Thanks in advance.
